Philly suburbia/in the city!

Depending on what time anyone arrives, I can pick people up from train/bus/airport places after 1pm generally. I will prolly be parking in the city *cringe* If someone needs a ride home after trains have stopped, I can prolly do that. My car can seat up to 3 comfortably, 4 is we squeeze in the back seat.

Suburbia wise, I will be coming from the Main Line area

I wasn't sure yet. I was thinking that it MIGHT be possible to carpool, if we had enough people that splitting the rental cost on a car would be cheaper than even the cheap buses (with the benefit that we could stop anywhere we like, and/or pick people up on the way). Hertz seems to have some pretty good deals going on until the end of March, which might make it feasible, but we'd need at least four people, five would be better.

If we don't have enough people, I was thinking to take the bus down to New York and then to Philly, since that seems to be the next-cheapest way?

I would be happy to sign up with a carpool if that works out, or a bus is fine too. Just um, keep me posted I guess.

will do. It will really depend on how many people from the area end up coming to this shindig. ^^ So yes. I will keep you posted! (And if we DO end up busing down, we totally need to plan it out and all get on the same bus.)

Man, seriously, I hope everybody in the whole universe comes to this thing. There's were a whole lot of comments from people saying "I'm in!", but of course sometimes something will come up or whatever, so... *waits anxiously for the registration post to fill up* =3

You, me, and bewarethesmirk take a bus together? Y/N? My class ends at 2:15 on Friday, so I can pretty much leave anytime after that (or I can just skip it-- it'll be worth it anyway!).

Well, and ocelotspots is coming from Boston, too. So with that... we might actually have enough people that renting a car, splitting the cost, and driving ourselves down would be cheaper than taking the bus (with the added benefit of being able to stop for bathrooms/food/etc whenever we want, leave Boston whenever we want, and not having to stop over in NYC). IF everyone is amenable to the idea, anyway. I'd have to price things out, but Hertz is running a, like, 50% off weekend rentals deal until the end of March. *will investigate this possibility and return with details*

Returning with information! With the Hertz deal, it looks like we could rent a car for the weekend as cheap as $35/person (for the whole trip), with 4 people. If we squeeze in a fifth, it would be even cheaper. So that might actually be a realistic option for us, considering that the bus rates range from $15-$20 one-way, and we'd have to buy two tickets each way, since we'd have to stop in NYC and then go on to Philly, and do the same thing on the way back.

I know it's waaaay early to be asking, but do you anticipate we'd be leaving in the morning? I'm trying to figure out if I should ask for the whole day off work.

I'll probably end up taking the whole day myself, just because where I work is SOOOO out of the way of EVERYTHING, but I was thinking to leave early-to-mid afternoon, depending on whether the students among us have classes, etc. I was hoping to leave around 1-2pm, but we could leave later and still get there Friday evening before it gets too late, so I'm pretty flexible. ^^
