Did you only read the elementary school one? Because if so, the High School sequel was just posted recently (and is much longer! XD ).
Bits of that sound vaguely familiar... I'm sure I didn't write it, but I'm not sure who did or if I've actually read it! (Though if I haven't I NEED TO...) There are a few fics where Kevin joins another band--someone was writing one where he ends up in Panic! after Ryan and Jon leave, we've got one WIP in the works where he ends up in TAI... instead of Chislett, there's a published one (recent) where he and Selena start another band, there's NINJA, which is the high school AU where he's in a sekrit!band... (Wow we actually use this trope a lot, don't we? /0\ )
