So I don't do these writer's block things very often, but I saw this one, and since it's been asked of me before...

SolarCat.

Well, you see. Cats are, clearly, solar powered. This was conclusively proven by my cat, Oliver, who would spend large portions of the day asleep in the patch of sunlight on the dining room floor. Then, suddenly and without warning, he would get up, tear around the house like the hounds of hell were after him, generally make a nuisance of himself... and then crash right back in the same spot on the dining room floor to repeat the process.

Hence, I said to myself, "Self, he is obviously a solar-powered cat. This explains so much."

And when it came time for me to choose a less annoying username than the bastardized wapanese I was using on FF.Net, I thought back to this incident, and said to myself, "Self, that would be a fantastic username." So I used it. And then I got deeper into fannish things and people started to actually know who I was, and now if I wanted to change it I'd have to change my email and let everyone know and it'd be a pain. So I'm SolarCat for good, pretty much. Which is perfectly okay by me. ^^

Yeah, but that was a re-bastardization of "SolarCat". Before that, I was using "KuroKitsune", which is not correct grammar. It should have been "KuroiKitsune". But I'm glad I dropped the Japanese, anyway, since I'm not even that active in anime fandoms anymore. ^^

I was just about to ask what this bastardized wapanese username of days past was, but there it was~

Also, dropping the i seems to be a weirdly common otaku mistake on the internet.

Well, I had originally chosen that name before I'd actually learned any Japanese grammar. I think I picked it in about 8th or 9th grade, back when I had some Japanese vocabulary, but not the grammar knowledge to apply it properly. Which is why I think a lot of otaku make the same mistake--they find "black" (or whatever) in the dictionary and because in English it doesn't change between saying "this is black" and "the black book", they assume that the Japanese is the same as well. *shrug* Wrong, but understandable, I think.
