I think you guys should ask me questions about any of my fics. Like, thinky thoughts (MY FAVORITE) or even "WHY ON EARTH DID YOU DO THIS, IT'S BEEN DRIVING ME CRAZY" and such.

I am in a write-y mood, so I'm all for talking about my fics! (Plus these things seem to be where all my sequels come from... *looks at psuedo_catalyst* )

Way, way back, when I was but a wee baby!bandomer (AKA August, 2009), I wrote a little Frank/Gerard-ish fic called Vampires Will Never Hurt You (But I Make No Promises About Zombies)

This fic was, in a word, ridiculous. It sprang from this idea I had about wee!Gerard who had a disease that made him kind of like a vampire (he can't go out in the sun), and wee!Frank who thinks wee!Gerard is THE MOST AWESOME PERSON ON EARTH, and their adorable fourth-grade love. It was only 1,400 words, and an elementary school AU, and while I did get some lovely feedback when I posted it, and I was a bit in love with my wee!boys, I moved on to other parts of bandom and didn't exactly forget about Vampires, but I mostly put it behind me as a first effort in bandom, and a cute enough little fic for what it was.

Fast forward.

This evening, I posted the sequel to Vampires. It's called You Only Hear the Music When Your Heart Begins to Break, and it's 13,700 words of high school fic set in the same universe.

There is really only one reason that this fic exists at all, and that's because psuedo_catalyst asked me about what high school held for my Vampires versions of Frank and Gerard, and got me thinking about it, and then proceeded to be very excited every time I talked about it after that. (Which just goes to show that if you want fic from me, clearly the way to go about it is to actually ask me stuff when I post writing questions memes. XD )

Now, I LOVE that, okay, totally love that anyone would like my silly little fic enough to want a sequel that much. But I probably wouldn't have devoted a post to it, not really, but then isweedan mentioned something very similar tonight on Twitter, and I just felt the need to post about it.

Because it's AWESOME, of course, but also a little weird to me, that people not only read my little elementary school AU, but really did like it, and even remember it.

I'm not even sure what the point of this post is, other than that I am mystified when stuff like this happens, because I don't think of myself as the sort of person whose fics people remember, or demand sequels to. So it's weird to me, but it also means so much, and makes me so happy when people tell me stuff like that.

So perhaps the point of this post is to encourage everyone: if you like someone's stuff, comment and say so.

I'm not going to claim I'm perfect at this myself, because I'm not. But even though it's not New Year's yet, I think I'm making that my resolution. I will try to be better about telling people when I really love their stories, because I know how much it means to me to hear things like that. It's amazing what the smallest comment can do to make someone feel good and happy and valued.

Or you can ask meta- questions like 'what was the inspiration for creating ____?'
